What is the Land Trust?
The Land Trust was founded in 2007 by the coming together of three parties: Land Heritage, the Paget Estate and the Soil Association.
But its roots go back to the early days of the organic movement. About 65 years ago, Hugh Flatt, a little known organic pioneer in the South West of England founded the first charity to own farmland for organic farming. With a working demonstration farm at its heart, visitors came from all walks of life and from many parts of the world, to learn more about the principles and practice of organics and to be more connected to the land.
The Land Trust is part of the Soil Association family and is governed by its own Articles and its own Board of Trustees.
Our Trustees are drawn from the founding organisations together with other individuals who bring essential expertise to the board.
