Woodoaks Farm and The Black Barn, Hertfordshire
As seen on BBC1's Countryfile.
Woodoaks Farm has been on the map for the last 500 years. More recently, it's been under the ownership of the Findlay Family who donated the 300 acre farm for safe keeping to the Soil Association Land Trust.
Now as custodians of Woodoaks farm, it is our job to take care of and protect the land. We're turning it into something that can deliver wellbeing to our local community, nature and the planet.

We believe that everyone should be able to:
- access locally and sustainably grown food at an affordable price
- enjoy nature and play an active part in reversing its decline
- have a stake in protecting the planet for future generations to enjoy.
It's proven that a deep connection with nature improves mental wellbeing. Being part of a team increases that sense of belonging and purpose. Right now we are building our farm team and community - young and old, individuals and businesses.
Over the next 3 years we hope to:
- establish a vibrant food and farming hub based on a circular economy with zero waste output.
- become the best outdoor classroom in the area, establishing an educational programme for local primary and secondary schools that empowers teachers and students alike, to make responsible pro climate, nature and environmental decisions in the future.
- improve biodiversity, helping nature to thrive on our 350 acres and encourage and educate our local community to do the same through workshops, volunteering opportunities and events.
The Black Barn project
"By donating Woodoaks Farm to the Soil Association Land Trust, I knew that it would be preserved and protected for future generations.
It's absolutely crucial that we put brilliant minds together and take action to save what we are in danger of losing - community, nature and open spaces. Places where people and wildlife can thrive and history and Mother Nature are recognised and respected as our best teachers."
Sally Findlay, Former owner of Woodoaks Farm
