Eur Ing Nick Buckland OBE currently chairs and serves on the boards of several organisations in the private, public, and voluntary sectors, both locally and nationally. This includes chairing the Soil Association Certification Board, Future First (an education charity), and the Riverford Organics Trust.
Nick lives in Cornwall with his wife Debbie, where he owns and runs an organic livestock farm. They have one son, three dogs, and five cats as well as numerous sheep, a herd of Ruby Red cattle and Gloucester Old Spot pigs. His interests include theatre, cricket and travelling.
In addition to his extensive board experience, Nick is also an expert in strategic planning, audit, governance, review processes, and quality. He spent over 20 years in the IT industry and has worked closely with numerous boards and board committees.
Nick holds a BSc in Mathematics from the University of Bath and is a Fellow of several professional institutions, including the the Royal Society of Arts, the Institute of Engineering and Technology, and the Chartered Management Institute.
In recognition of his outstanding services to innovation and technology, Nick was appointed OBE in the 2009 New Year Honours List. He was also awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Technology by Plymouth University in 2013.
