Mike has been involved in many aspects of the farming industry for the past 37 years starting in top fruit and strawberry production, followed by arable and field scale vegetables and more recently poultry.  Switching to organic principals 12 years ago his passion and commitment to the sector continues to grow and he continuously strives to develop his knowledge base.

Mike has been the manager of Maple Farm Kelsale, a 137ha family owned mixed organic farm situated on the Suffolk Coast, for the past 6 years.

It is mostly arable but is also home to the Maple Farm Kelsale brand Organic eggs which is integrated into the arable rotation. The primary role of the arable cropping is to supply food for the hens whose eggs are sold all over East Anglia and London. The farm also grows fruit and vegetables for the on-site farmshop,

Over the past 4 years, the farm has been planting a 30ha Silvoarable Agroforestry scheme, a project which Mike feels is one of the most exciting developments of his farming career to date.
