Mara Frisby

Certification Officer

Mara grew up in a farming community in Herefordshire, where her rural upbringing gave her a profound appreciation for the importance of balancing nature friendly farming with the practicalities of running a business. She is passionate about working with farmers to help them achieve this balance and ensure the future resilience of agroecological farming systems.

Mara has completed an MSc in Environmental Management at UWE where she developed practical and theoretical knowledge in sustainability and environmental issues, including environmental impact assessment and air and water quality monitoring. For her dissertation she conducted research on agroforestry adoption, working with farmers to identify the barriers and drivers to implementing agroforestry practices on their farms.

Before joining the producer team Mara worked as a certification officer for abattoirs and food and drink licensees within the Soil Association, gaining extensive organic certification knowledge across the supply chain.

Outside of work Mara enjoys hiking in the countryside with her dog, all things arty and crafty, and gardening.
