Katrin Hochberg
Director, Farming and Land Use
Katrin leads the farming and land use team and is responsible for the successful development and delivery of the Soil Association’s farming and land use programmes.
She joined the Soil Association again in 2022 after previously working here for 7 years developing market support and training programmes for organic farmers. In the intervening years, Katrin was the business development manager for an organic meat marketing business, worked as a local food consultant and for 6 years ran an international charity that owns the leading standard for organic beauty products.
Katrin’s practical farming experience stems from growing up and working on a smallholding. She went on to do an apprenticeship on a large-scale farm that specialised in arable, dairy and sheep and spent shorter spells working on dairy farms in Ireland, France and Switzerland. Witnessing the environmental, animal welfare and social impacts of various farming systems led to a passion to support nature-friendly and high welfare farming systems. Katrin has a BSc in sustainable land use and nature conservation.
