Dale Orr
Dale farms just over 300 acres, on the east coast of Northern Ireland in partnership with his father John.
Together they have a herd of traditionally bred beef cattle, predominately Aberdeen Angus and Herefords, and a pure bred flock of Lleyn ewes is maintained.
The farm focuses on feeding fresh forage to livestock, with a large proportion of the farm sown out to Multi Species Swards.
The farm has been a Technology Demonstration Farm for the last four years, and is currently involved in a research project to investigate the suitability of Lucerne as a forage crop in Northern Ireland.
In 2023, Dale became one of six new ambassadors for the Nature Friendly Farming Network and he hopes to host visits for farmers throughout Ireland as part of this project.
