I have been an organic farmer in Devon since 1998, and have varied experience as both grower and livestock producer. Having grown vegetables for a box scheme for ten years on the distinctive free draining red sandy soil close to Exeter, I moved a few miles up the road and a few meters uphill to the heavier soil of the Culm measures and optimistically named Summerhill.

As a predominantly grassland farm we have focused on livestock production developing  a pedigree suckler herd of North Devon cattle and have recently switched the focus of our poultry enterprise from laying hens to breeding geese and rearing geese for the Christmas market.
