Farming and Land Use team head to NI for Fields Good
In September, Tabitha Acton (Farming Advisor), Jon Haines (Agroforestry Advisor) (both pictured) and Ben Raskin (Head of Horticulture and Agroforestry) from the Farming and Land Use team were delighted to attend Fields Good, Northern Ireland's regenerative farming festival. The festival had a fantastic turnout, and the team had positive conversations with farmers interested in agroforestry and nature-friendly farming. They also met the DAERA (Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs) Minister, Andrew Muir, and discussed future organic support. It was a wonderful event and a key opportunity to connect with the Northern Irish farming community.
Ben Raskin says, “Despite the lack of government support for farming in Northern Ireland at the moment, the large numbers of people attending the show and their appetite for learning more about regenerative and organic farming practices, and making better use of their trees was inspiring. We just need to help them make it happen.”
