DIT seeks candidates for appointment to the Food and Drink Export Council

The Department for International Trade (DIT) is seeking a limited number of candidates who will be considered for direct appointment as members of the Food and Drink Export Council (the Council).

The Council will meet at least quarterly to drive a collaborative approach, and harness expertise and resource from Government and industry across the UK, in a collective endeavour to increase agriculture, food and drink exports. It will be co-chaired by the Minister for Exports and an industry co-chair.

To ensure the Council delivers for all parts of the UK, the membership will be diverse and dynamic with an onus on innovation, raising ambition, building capability and effective collaboration. Candidates will be considered for direct appointment based on whether they meet aspects of the below criteria:

  1. Track record or experience of actively growing exports

  2. Demonstrable innovation in exporting

  3. Experience across key sub-sectors such as: drinks, meat, seafood, dairy, processed foods, plant-based

  4. Diverse ownership and/or business model

  5. Representative of business from all parts of the UK

  6. Recognised dynamic leaders within the sector

  7. Diversity, both in the individual members and in the nature of the organisations they represent
