GB organic regulation review- opportunity to have your say closes 11th February
Defra are now asking for feedback from organic stakeholders on the GB organic regulation.
This process is open for comment until Sunday 11th February and covers the definitions and production rules, including farming and growing, food and feed.
Labelling, controls and trade with third countries will be dealt with by Defra separately (date yet to be confirmed by Defra).
Please see the Defra Targeted Stakeholder Feedback exercise information note for details of what the feedback exercise covers and how to take part.
Defra have asked for feedback using excel spreadsheet templates (linked below) which contain the regulatory text and space to provide feedback; these documents contain a guidance tab, which explains how to record your feedback.
You only need to review and provide comments on the articles in the regulations that apply to your business. However, you may also provide comments on any additional articles included in this exercise.
The feedback templates should be sent to organics.regulatoryreview@defra.gov.uk by 11.59pm on Sunday 11th February 2024.
We will also be coordinating feedback to Defra. If you don’t want to get involved directly, but want to have a say, please contact us with details of what part of the regulation you think needs review or if there are parts that you want to safeguard from change.
To send comments to us please send them to sacl.notifications@soilassociation.org.
