EU move from equivalence to compliance derogated until October 2025

Businesses sourcing products from the EU which were originated in non-EU third countries may benefit from being aware of changes to regulations affecting product acceptance.

The EU has now published regulations effectively extending the deadline for equivalent Non-EU Certifiers (CB) and Competent Authorities (CA) who are required to comply with organic Regulation (EU) 2018/848.

Certifiers in third countries will be able to continue to issue certificates of inspection for consignments supplied by operators that are still certified under the old equivalence arrangements until 15 Oct 2025. CBs and CAs will still need to have committed to the new compliance regime, and operators must have a valid organic certificate under the existing equivalence arrangements.
