Requirement for COIs for organic products from the EU, EEA and Switzerland in 2025

Further to our update in September on GB Certificate of Inspection (COI), all businesses importing organic goods from the EU or EEA are reminded that COIs will be required for all consignments from February 1st 2025.

The scope of the EU-UK Trade & Cooperation Agreement (TCA) currently requires that goods from the EU/EEA originate in the EU/EEA. This means that to be accepted onto the GB market as organic goods must have been grown, produced, or further processed in the EU/EEA. With the introduction of GB COIs, we anticipate additional scrutiny of goods entering GB. As such we recommend that businesses scrutinise their supply chains to ensure products meet the scope of the TCA ahead of the February 2025 deadline.

If you have any concerns about importing good from the EU or EEA, please contact our Business Development Team at marketingsupport@soilassociation.org.
