India - Removal of Ethylene oxide testing requirements

Removal of Ethylene oxide testing requirements for products imported from India

Defra have confirmed that from 1st July 2022 they will no longer require importers to obtain ethylene oxide (ETO) testing on product they import from India.

Since 1st January 2022 Defra have required product imported from India to be tested on arrival in GB. This was due to concerns about ETO contamination in products from India.  This requirement will now expire on 30th June 2022 and product arriving in GB after that date will not require testing by the importer.

Defra have stated they will continue to monitor the situation.
