Change to organic importing

Extension of Controls Covering Organic Imports from Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Russian Federation

You may recall that in May 2016 the EC placed additional controls on import of certain organic goods from Russia and some ex-Soviet Republic states following concerns over organic integrity.  The controls were to be in place from 1 January 2016 – 31 December 2016.

The EC have reviewed the situation and the restrictions are to remain in place for Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Russian Federation until December 2017.

 The additional controls apply to products with CN codes chapter 10, 11, 12 and 23 and are relevant only to the importer of the goods, not later stages in the supply chain.

We will contact all licensees who are certified as an importer directly with more details, if you are unsure whether these additional controls will affect you please contact your certification officer.

Amends to annex IV of (EC) No 1235/2008

The following certification bodies have been removed from annex IV and are no longer approved to certify to the EU regulation outside of the EU:

• ECOCERT IMO Denetim ve Belgelendirme Ltd
• QC&I GmbH
• Bookang tech

If you are currently importing from a non-EU supplier that is certified by any of the above certification bodies, please contact your certification officer.
