First Food for Life Scotland Network Event a Success

13 September 2013

The Food for Life Scotland team recently held the first ever Food for Life Scotland Network event at Glasgow’s Emirates Arena. The event brought together more than 50 catering industry delegates from all over Scotland to discuss and exchange ideas and information about the Food for Life Catering Mark.

It was a chance to meet and network with the Food for Life Scotland team, but more importantly with other caterers and suppliers. The event offered a unique opportunity to hear from and share knowledge with local authorities who have already achieved the Food for Life Catering Mark.

Attendees heard about achieving and working with the catering mark through presentations, activities and in-depth workshops they also took part in a more difficult than expected ‘name that vegetable’ challenge to learn about some unexpected and surprising Scottish produce.

There was definitely a buzz in the air and the event was heralded a success by both the organising team and the delegates - who commented that the event wasn’t just informative and useful, but fun and enjoyable too.

A particular highlight for all attendees was the delicious Gold Standard lunch prepared and served by Emirates Arena Café chef, Ross Welch and his catering team. Encore Hospitality was awarded the Gold Food for life Catering mark in March for their daily offer at the Emirates Arena Café, of freshly prepared, healthy, local and some organic food.

The first Food for Life Scotland Event was such a success that the team are looking forward to running more in the near future, watch this space!
