Scottish organic forum event report

Earlier this month organic farmers, growers and processors from across Scotland had an opportunity to network, share best practice and hear from key industry professionals at the first Scottish Organic Forum event.

The event, ‘Organics: Going Forward’, took place on Wednesday 3rd October in Falkland. The Scottish Organic Forum is an industry-led body, working with organic producers and key industry organisations to strengthen and promote Scotland’s food and drink supply chain.

Current members of the Scottish Organic Forum are; Biodynamic Agricultural Association, Caledonian Organics, Scottish Agricultural College, Scottish Organic Producers Association, Scottish Agricultural Organisation Society, Scottish Organic Milk Producers, Soil Association Scotland, Organic Growers Alliance and the Scottish Government. 

Presentations were delivered by Richard Huxtable, SAC; Laura Stewart, Director, Soil Association Scotland; James Withers, Chief Executive, Scotland Food and Drink; Martin Davies, Head of Farming, Soil Association; Debs Roberts, Scottish Organic Producers Association (SOPA); Murray Cooper, Farmer at Mains of Thornton and Alyn Smith MEP, who is a full member of the European Parliament’s Agriculture Committee.
