Clun Valley Organics, Brynmawr Farm, Newcastle on Clun, SY7 8QU
Many people are buying houses with land which, though its romantic at the time, suddenly leaves them with a problem. This land needs maintaining. You could just mow it but where’s the fun or benefit in that? There are many things you could do with just four acres and a lot more with 30.
Or you may be thinking of going into a small farming enterprise and want to ‘try before you buy’ or you may just want a different experience – why not try farming for a day!
Our aim is to introduce you to different opportunities and how to go about them. Our expertise comes from the winning combination of an established farmer going organic (Trevor) and office bound beginners starting out in a new farming enterprise, who know what questions they had to ask and how they picked their way through the learning experience (James and Jacky).
We believe in learning by doing so we try and keep the courses as hands on as possible.
This course will cover the type of sheep that would best suite your land and lifestyle, the organic and sustainability approach, rules and regulations, the different needs of the different types of sheep, grassland management, feeding, bedding, weaning, practical handling, showing, and finally slaughtering and selling.
Plus of course any questions you may want to ask!
Cost £70 with organic lunch.
