Keeping cattle for beginners

Starts: 10 February 2013 10:00
Ends: 10 February 2013 16:00

Clun Valley Organics, Brynmawr Farm, Newcastle on Clun, Shropshire SY7 8QU

Many people are buying houses with land which, though it's romantic at the time, suddenly leaves them with a problem. This land needs maintaining. You could just mow it but where’s the fun or benefit in that? There are many things you could do with just 4 acres and a lot more with 30.

Or you may be thinking of going into a small farming enterprise and want to ‘try before you buy’ or you may just want a different experience – why not try farming for a day!

Our aim is to introduce you to different opportunities and how to go about them. Our expertise comes from the winning combination of an established farmer going organic (Trevor) and office bound beginners starting out in a new farming enterprise, who know what questions they had to ask and how they picked their way through the learning experience. (James and Jacky)

We believe in learning by doing so we try and keep the courses as hands on as possible. This course covers all you need to know about establishing a small herd of cattle suitable for your land.

Cost £70 Discounts are available for couples. Organic lunch included.

You can stay in the eco cottage or caravan. Alternatively we can offer camping facilities or recommend a range of accommodation close by.

To book please contact Jacky Harrison on jackyharrison51@hotmail.com or phone 01588 630666.
