Workshop - Secure your business with CSA

15 February 2013

Secure cash flow, business resilience and increased customer loyalty. Community supported agriculture as a marketing model can provide all these and more.

Existing work on CSA in the UK has been very clearly focused on community-led initiatives, but there has been an increasing interest amongst producers in adopting the approach as an alternative business model. There are already some very good working examples of producers using the CSA approach as a guaranteed market for their produce, sometimes alongside other marketing routes. This approach is particularly relevant to smaller scale organic producers who find it difficult to broker viable contracts with the bulk retail and procurement markets.

We have just received funding to support farmers and growers who want to develop a CSA business model. We are offering training events, visits and free one-to-one support to both organic and non-organic growers over the coming year. We are also interested in hearing from producers who are already using this approach.
