You want me to come to your BBQ? (Probably not, by the time you’ve read this!)

Helen Browning: Truth be told, BBQs have never really been my thing. It so often seems to be an excuse to load a rather chemical smelling fire with discount burgers that would never grace a self respecting dinner table, char them until they are a health hazard, and served with tasteless chunks of tomato salad on paper plates that are impossible to eat from. Warm white wine in plastic beakers completes the disappointing experience. Of course, it doesn’t have to be this way. With a bit more care and planning, the dream of relaxing with friends on a balmy summers evening, delicious, healthy food on hand, is within all our reach.
